Shute Beacon

Shute Beacon is situated at the southern end of Shute Hill, with extensive
views over the Axe Valley and Seaton. The stone beacon house is a circular, beehive shape, with a conical roof. According to its plaque, this beacon house is one of only two that remain in Devon It was constructed in the Elizabethan period, when the threat of an invasion from the continent was very real.
